"GRAB is the safest way to ride a taxi" says Jonathan Paca, city manager for Grab Iloilo. "With this taxi-hailing app, passengers see who the taxi driver is and they will already have an idea how much your taxi fare would be even before you reach your destination."
GRAB is still the more preferred taxi-hailing app in Iloilo according to Mr. Jonathan Paca |
"You can also pay with your credit or debit card," Paca continues. " It also has a share feature, so parents can monitor their (child's) destination and safety when riding a Grab Taxi"
GRAB-BING THE OPPORTUNITY
As Southeast Asia's leading online to offline mobile platform, GRAB provides more than just transportation services. Grab's innovation makes the everyday services that matter most to consumers easier and more convenient - just with a touch on your smartphone.
Launched in 2012 in Malaysia and it entered the Philippines in 2013. It was in 2015 when GrabTaxi entered the Ilonggo market after its success in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao cities.
Iloilo taxi operators and drivers got themselves affiliated with Grab since then and seeing the benefits of the app, there are now around 700 GrabTaxis plying the streets of Iloilo City.
Aside from the training of taxi drivers, Grab also gives them incentives such as P100 - if they reach a minimum number of bookings per day.
Passengers also benefit from Grab according to Paca. From time to time, Grab gives out promo codes that gives passengers as mush as PhP50 off their fare.

GRAB CAR IN ILOILO: STILL PENDING
"For now, only the GrabTaxi service is available in Iloilo but once the arrangement with the Land Transportation Franchise Regulatory Board is finalized, GrabCar will be made available here" announces Paca.

With GrabCar, commuters can hire private cars (from sedans to SUVs) just like taxis but at a fixed rate while private car owners can also earn an extra income.
"GrabCar is currently offered in Manila (and other cities) where there are about 50,000 cars accredited with GrabCar. This is another way to cater to the riding public especially during peak hours," Paca said.
MORE THAN JUST TAXI-HAILING
