Alliance Global Group, Inc. 9-month profit hits PhP19.3B; Q3 earnings up 10%

The investment holding company of tycoon Dr. Andrew Tan - Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI)  reported a net income of P19.3 billion in the first nine months of the year, registering a growth of 4% from the P18.7-billion level the year before. Excluding non-recurring gains, core profit grew 9% to P19.1-billion from P17.6-billion the previous year.  AGI's hotels under Megaworld and Travellers International became one of the fastest growing segments of the business. Singtel volunteers join Globe’s sustainability efforts in Iba, Zambales

Volunteerism knows no boundaries, geographical or otherwise; global citizens are better together and should care for the planet as one.  With this in mind, employee volunteers from Singtel of Singapore visited the Philippines once again to take part in the Singtel Group’s 8th overseas volunteering program hosted by Globe Telecom. Globe and Singtel volunteers learned how to make useable stone sculptures from lahar rocks, as well as plates and baskets by weaving Nito vines. These products are a key source of livelihood for the people of Jessmag Aeta community. The group of six Singtel and 13 Globe volunteers went to the Iba Botanicals eco-village in Iba, Zambales to plant Acacia, Kakawati, Langka and Kasuy in areas that have been widely deforested.

With many schoolchildren being able to access the internet without adult supervision, they are inadvertently exposed to indecent photos and videos which may not be limited to just actual search anymore. Online sites have found creative ways to lure the youth into checking out sexually-charged materials through keywords that may seem harmless, spam emails, or unrelated topics, to expose them involuntarily to sexual activities. Much worse is that friends and even strangers are able to force children to share naked photos or videos of them engaging in sexual activities.

Megaworld to build P1.8-B mall in Capital Town Pampanga

Township developer Megaworld is building its first full-scale mall development in Central Luzon, the Capital Mall, inside the 35.6-hectare Capital Town in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. To be completed in 2022, the Capital Mall will be a three-level mall with a gross floor area of around 33,000 square meters. The company is allocating P1.8-billion to build the mall in two years. Construction will start by first half of 2020. Globe joins over 50 mobile firms worldwide in committing to disclose climate impacts

Globe, as part of Singtel group,  joins more than 50 mobile operators from all over the world in addressing the growing problem of climate change through a commitment to disclose the impact of its operations on the environment using the internationally-recognized CDP global disclosure system.   This is part of a major GSMA-led initiative to develop a mobile industry climate action roadmap that will  create a decarbonization pathway for the mobile sector by February next year. The end-goal is to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 aligned with the aim of the Paris Agreement in 2016 to  reduce the risks and harmful effects of climate change by limiting the increase of the global average temperature to 1.5 degrees celsius.
