Globe, partners start long-term Boracay conservation drive

Globe Telecom, along with its partners, has kicked off initiatives to help address environmental issues besetting the country’s top tourist draw, Boracay Island. AFP arm supports nationwide volunteering program of Globe, Disney

A major support command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) vowed to participate in the nationwide volunteering program of Globe Telecom and The Walt Disney Company Philippines called Time Please, in a bid to to help more communities across the Philippines. The volunteer citizen soldiers of AFP Reserve Command (AFPRESCOM) committed to actively participate in volunteer programs available on the Time Please portal and to log their volunteering hours for their do-it-yourself outreach activities.

Globe intensifies disaster preparedness campaign

Globe Telecom  continues to strengthen  its #GlobeREADY campaign .   The company will join  the Metro Manila Metrowide Shake Drill this month ,  in line with its effort to fortify awareness of business continuity management and build resilience against calamities. The drill will be led by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and  local government units in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). “As a leading telecommunications company we understand the importance of our role before, during, and after disasters. Birdshot Bags Three Major Awards at the Eddys

Birdshot  is still flying high and gaining accolades, this time from The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) at the 2018 Entertainment Editors Awards.  Birdshot’s  Mary Joy Apostol went home with the Best Actress Award for her portrayal of the 14-year-old Maya, whose coming-of-age story fuels the movie. The actress was ebullient about receiving the award, declaring that one should “never stop chasing your dreams and always believe [that] the Lord has a good plan for us.” The Best Director award was given to Mikhail Red, whose work on  Birdshot  was hailed by  Variety  magazine critic Richard Kuipers as “wonderfully directed and performed” and a “… a compelling study in the loss of innocence while offering potent commentary on the state of things in the Philippines.” Best Cinematography also went to  Birdshot , with Myco David winning the prize.

The Volkswagen Kafer Club of Iloilo Inc. gathered to joined the Molo Mansion 1st Car and RC Helicopter show last June 29-30, 2018. The members of the club showcased their VW’s which ranged from stock bettles, baja bug, notchback and buggy. The group, led by club president Nelson Hipe, said that they are glad to be part of the first car show in the Molo Mansion. I Juander concludes 7th Anniversary Special this Wednesday

Mynt makes hassle-free lending available to every Filipino

Mynt, the fintech startup owned by Globe Telecom, Ant Financial, and Ayala Corporation, takes the next big step in financial inclusion by making hassle-free loans available to every Filipino through its lending arm, Fuse, which primarily caters to the underserved and unbanked population in the country. Fuse offers GCredit and GScore for lending and credit scoring, respectively. GCredit is a credit line attached to one’s GCash account with funds they can then use to buy groceries, medicine, or even school supplies in partner merchants via GCash scan to pay. The amount they can avail of is determined by GScore, the first trust score in the Philippines which checks the financial capacity of an individual to pay back a credit based on their GCash usage. Cebu Landmasters H1 reservation sales up by 61%, a record of 4.6 billion

 Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI), the leading VisMin-based developer, reports a record-high 61% reservation sales growth of P4.6 billion in the first half of 2018 due to strong demand of its projects. The figure is 65% of the company’s target of 7B for the entire year and already surpasses its full-year 2017 reservations sales performance. “Our VisMin expansion is on the right track. With our fast turnaround strategy at work across VisMin, we are able to generate more inventory and move very efficiently from acquisition to sales and construction. This has allowed us to grow our reservation sales very strongly,” said CLI chief executive officer Jose Soberano III. Phase 1 of Base Line Center (BLC) is set to be completed before the year ends. Globe Telecom sets up new company for tower assets

Globe Telecom has taken a step forward to fulfill its plans to divest its tower assets.    This is in line with the company's thrust to continuously improve internet connectivity in the Philippines. On Thursday, July 5, Globe disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) that it began the process of incorporating a separate tower holding company. As soon as it gets approval from the SEC, this will operationalize the divestment of all or part of its tower assets through a separate company.    Early this year, Globe announced that it has initiated talks with independent third parties for its tower assets. “As a major industry player we understand what this country needs to improve the internet experience of our customers. Putting up more towers based on global standards within strategic areas will make spectrum use more efficient. All Globe Prepaid Load now have 1- Year Expiration

Globe Telecom has fully complied with the Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 05-12-2017 issued jointly by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), extending the validity of all prepaid load to one (1) year. Effective July 5, 2018, all Globe prepaid load, including those with denominations below 300 pesos, will carry a one year expiration period. It was on  January 6  when Globe and other carriers started implementing the one year expiration period for prepaid load worth 300 pesos and above. We are grateful to the NTC, DICT, and DTI for giving us ample time to prepare for the smooth and seamless implementation of the extension of the expiration period across all denominations.
