Globe Telecom donates over 30,000 books to children across Visayas, Mindanao

Over 100,000 children from war-torn Marawi City as well as various barangays of Samar, Negros Oriental, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, Leyte, North Cotabato, Davao del Norte and Davao City have received over 30,000 books from Globe Telecom – a move aimed to promote literacy and help them regain a sense of normalcy. Various humanitarian organizations have estimated that 50,000-80,000 children from Marawi are still recovering from the trauma caused by the terrorist siege. After months of conflict in the war-torn city, Globe commits to provide young Maranaos the needed psychosocial support by filling child-friendly spaces with fun and engaging books. Globe Telecom, DTI enable consumers to air concerns with 1-DTI hotline

Students show increased cyber safety literacy after joining Globe Telecom’s Digital Thumbprint Program

Students have shown positive changes in cyber safety behavior after taking up Globe Telecom’s Digital Thumbprint Program, according to a recent study made by the Nielsen Company. DTP, which Globe conducts in partnership with Facebook and the Department of Education (DepEd), provides students with insights into how the online world operates, how to be responsible online, and how to make the most of the internet in a positive way. “It is our aim for students participating in DTP to leave the program with the belief they can effectively manage the challenges involved in being a good digital citizen. This is part of our long-term efforts in educating and protecting the youth on the impact of technology in their lives as we help build the Philippines into becoming a digital nation,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications at Globe.

Dept. of Tourism Western Visayas regional office transfers to Casa Real de Iloilo

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has transferred its regional office to Casa Real, the Old Iloilo Provincial Capitol last August 20, 2018. The regional office building of DOT Region VI in Capitol Grounds, Bonifacio Drive, Iloilo City will be demolished for the redevelopment project of the Iloilo Capitol complex. All DOT transactions including Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) travel tax collection will be entertained at the new office located at the ground floor of Casa Real De Iloilo.

Increased confidence, better appreciation for school work among positive behaviors derived from Globe grassroots sports program

Young athletes have shown positive behavioral changes such as increased confidence, more interest in studying and caring for their health and lifestyle, and becoming better team players after joining TM Football Para sa Bayan (TMFPSB), a holistic and sustained sports program of Globe Telecom, according to global research firm Nielsen. Nielsen assessed 50 TMFPSB participants age 10-12 who are residing in Metro Manila; San Carlos City, Negros Occidental; and Vigan, Ilocos Sur.   Based on the study, about 93% of the students indicated that they are able to concentrate and focus more at school and other forms of education after undergoing training through the football clinics conducted by Globe in partnership with Green Archers United Football Club.

Cebu Landmasters 1H net income rises 30% as sales surge

Leading VisMin-based developer Cebu Landmasters Inc.  (CLI)  announced that its net income jumped by 30 percent in the first six months as sales from its property projects surged. Net profit from January to June climbed to P826 million from P633 million last year. Consolidated revenue reached P2.6 billion, growing by 45 percent year on year.   Base Line Center, CLI’s first mixed-use development located in Cebu City, another contributor of the company’s first half of the year robust sales. “We are pleased to report the company’s outstanding performance for the first half of 2018. With record-breaking sales accompanied by our fast-turnaround development, we are confident that this momentum can be sustained,” said Jose Soberano III, CLI president and chief executive officer.

GCash, Xend Group partner for 1st QR-paid shipment service in PHL

Firm  named top Philippine publicly-listed company from the services sector  in 2017 scorecard   Globe Telecom was among the 10 top-performing publicly-listed companies (PLCs) in the Philippines under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) 2017. ACGS is an instrument for assessing and ranking publicly-listed companies in six participating ASEAN countries, namely: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) was appointed as the domestic ranking body for ACGS. ICD assessed 245 publicly-listed Philippines companies. Of these, only 42 companies scored at least 80 points.
