Globe Telecom in collaboration with ABS-CBN Foundation’s emergency humanitarian assistance program Sagip Kapamilya, provided relief goods to 720 families affected by the 5.9 magnitude earthquake in Batanes last week.

The meal packs that were sourced from Rise Against Hunger, consist of fortified Rice-Soy meal which contain vitamins and minerals to give residents the nutrients they need to remain healthy despite the difficult situation they are in. The operations were assisted by the local government of Itbayat, the Philippine National Police, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Through Sagip Kapamilya operation’s team, the relief goods were distributed to 714 families in Itbayat, the hardest hit town in Batanes, and to six more families who have members injured during the earthquake and were brought to Basco for medical attention.
A total of 911 families were affected by the earthquake in five Barangays in Itbayat, Batanes ( Brgy. Sta. Maria, Sta. Luisa, San Rafael, Sta. Rosa, and Raele) while 266 houses were damaged aside from two schools, two health facilities, and 10 road sections, resulting in Itbayat being placed under State of Calamity.
