Care and Protect Life on Earth (CAPABLE) Foundation, an outreach program established by award-winning actor John Arcilla, recently joined Globe Telecom’s nationwide volunteering program called Time Please, in a bid to entice more people to participate in activities that promote environmental awareness.
Globe, in partnership with The Walt Disney Philippines, last month launched Time Please to encourage and empower Filipinos – including companies, organizations, families, and friends – to provide volunteer activities or participate in existing programs.

“As a responsible corporate advocate, Globe can best serve the Filipino nation by ensuring that as we transform lives with technology, we also do our part in sustaining a safe and green environment for this generation and the next. In this effort, we are reaching out to individuals, communities, and companies to help us create a ‘Globe of Good’ through Time Please,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability Officer and Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications of Globe.
Running from May 25 to August 19 this year, Time Please is open to individuals willing and capable to do volunteer work. To join, volunteers should form a group of two to four members as well as nominate a team leader who is at least 18 years of age and has an active Globe or TM mobile number.
CAPABLE Foundation President John Arcilla said the objectives of Time Please complements the focus of his foundation, which centers on taking care of the environment.
“Volunteerism is whatever you can share to the community in terms of time, talent or resources,” said Arcilla, who is known for top-billing the independently-produced movie Heneral Luna.
Among the programs of CAPABLE Foundation are Fit Earth-Fit All, a weekly fitness and urban planting program; Sining Kalikasan, which teaches kids how to appreciate and care for the environment; and a Sunday school program aimed at teaching Science, Math, and English to in-school youth.
With an aim to green communities one ‘Fit Earth Fit All’ session at a time, CAPABLE Foundation recently held an urban planting 101 program in Parañaque City, wherein it taught around 30 mothers valuable gardening skills. The program also aims to encourage mothers to plant their own crops and share their knowledge on gardening to other mothers inside and outside their community.
Interested individuals who want to join the programs of CAPABLE Foundation can register to volunteer at www.timeplease.ph. The group with the most number of volunteer hour credits at the end of the program will win an all-expense paid trip to Hong Kong Disneyland.
Companies with existing volunteer programs may e-mail bridgecom@globe.com.ph to enroll as a partner organization.
Time Please supports Globe commitment to the nine UN Sustainable Development Goals and appeals to the Filipinos’ innate Bayanihan Spirit.
Banking on the Filipino propensity for helping people, the Philippines ranked 7th of 139 countries when it comes to the highest number of people volunteering their time, based on 2017 Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) World Giving Index.
