The Department of Tourism through the Office of Product and Market Development-India conducted Focus Philippines roadshow in Goa, India from July 25 to July 28, 2018. DOT-Western Visayas joined in this inbound tourism mission.
Focus Philippines is a one-on-one exclusive interaction among the leading and performing agents from India with the private sector and various regions of the Philippines.
It is an aggressive marketing campaign through business missions, consumer awareness programs, promotional activities and joint advertisements that must be implemented to be able to sustain high tourist arrival growth and post a bigger market.
Seven regions in the Philippines were identified to be promoted to the Indian market for its readiness to accept Indian tourist, wherein, Western Visayas, specifically Boracay was chosen. Other regions identified as ideal for Indian market to join the travel show were Region 4-B, Region 7 and National Capital Region.
DOT Region VI Regional Director Helen Catalbas said that Focus Philippines in India is a great opportunity to showcase not only Boracay but also other tourist destinations in Western Visayas.
"The DOT has identified India as one of the opportunity markets in the Philippines in generating tourist arrivals, as the 12th biggest market to the country. That's why DOT Region VI will give presentation about Western Visayas tourism to attract more Indian visitors", Director Catalbas added.
