Mary Eve Adeline Escoto of the Province of Guimaras is the country’s bet for the Miss Asia 2017 pageant which will be held in Gokulam Convention Centre, Cochin, Kerala, India on November 21.
The 24-year-old beauty queen recently met with Department of Tourism Region VI Helen Catalbas during a send-off luncheon before flying to India to compete for the said title.
Escoto is hoping to bring home the crown and continue the winning streak of the Philippines in international pageants this year.
Prior to joining Miss Asia Philippines, Escoto also joined Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2017 and the Mutya ng Guimaras 2017 wherein she won as first runner up.
Miss Asia Philippines is the first national pageant held outside Metro Manila with its Coronation Night was held in Dumaguete City last October 22. Miss Asia is an international pageant that brings representatives from Asian and Eurasian countries together to show the world not only the beauty but also the talents and confidence of the youth. The said pageant also showcases the candidates’ culture and tourism destinations of the countries they represent.
“The pressure is always there but I will just do my very best to proudly represent the country in the pageant,” Escoto said.
On her part, DOT-VI director Helen Catalbas considers Escoto as another pride of Western Visayas as she carries the Philippine flag in the international pageant.
“Her representation in Miss Asia 2017 could be a good venue for promotions of what our country as a whole and our region in specific has to offer to the international tourism market,” Catalbas noted.
She also cited that India where the Miss Asia 2017 will be held is one of the target markets of Western Visayas in terms of tourism as DOT-VI is intensifying efforts to tap the Indian market.
