Globe strengthens partnership with leading Japan telco Brastel with new OTT service

The country's leading mobile brand Globe Telecom reinforces its partnership with Japan’s Brastel Co., Ltd., International Communication Operator through the launch of a new co-branded OTT service which allows users to save up to 68% in calling rates.
Globe and Brastel entered into a business alliance agreement in February this year as strategic partners in Japan to offer a co-branded reloadable calling card for calls to Globe and TM numbers in the Philippines at a preferential rate.

Starting August 1, 2015, Globe and TM customers have access to affordable calls via Brastel's 050 Free application with rates of just 10 yen per minute, from its current price of 32 yen per minute when calling from a mobile with 0091 prefix.

“Japan has always been an important market for Globe because of the hundreds of thousands of Filipinos based there. This partnership with Brastel gives us an opportunity to offer good quality calls at superior rates and reach out to a bigger Filipino market in Japan,” shares Globe Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for International and Business Markets Gil Genio.
“Globe continues its journey to provide affordable communication services for Filipinos all over the world with a strengthened partnership with Brastel. With this new OTT service, Filipinos in Japan can enjoy affordable calling rates to their families and loved ones back home,” added Globe Senior Vice President for International Business Rizza Maniego-Eala.

With the successful launch of a co-branded reloadable calling card early this year, Globe and Brastel have taken further steps together by developing a service that takes advantage of the two companies’ networks and leading-edge know-how technologies. Both telcos will continue to aggressively expand communication services between the Philippines and Japan.
Starting August 1, Japan-based Globe and TM mobile customers can call their loved ones in the Philippines at the affordable rate of 10 yen per minute
“We are very proud to work on a new project together with Globe Telecom as we have been partners for many years already. It is a challenging and at the same time interesting project that I believe with better quality and more affordable rates will help to connect people in two countries.” said CEO of Brastel Co., Ltd. Wilson Kendi Kawai.

“The mission of Brastel’s partnership with Globe Telecom is to help improve the communication of the Filipino community who live in Japan with their families in their home country,” added CEO of Brastel Co., Ltd. Renato Junji Tanabe.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Japan with Globe and TM contacts in the Philippines can look forward to enjoying more innovative and affordable connectivity services from Globe and Brastel’s collaboration. Some projects in the pipeline include the availability of calls from Globe and TM mobile numbers to a Brastel 050 number and new chat and SMS services between Brastel 050 numbers and Globe and TM customers.
