Historical and classic-themed Korean films highlighted this year’s Korean Film Festival as the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) opened the annual film festival starting last August 2018. The festival kicked off in Manila last August 29 with the advance screening of ‘The Pirates’ at SM Megamall. Lee Seok-hoon, the director of the film, graced the advance screening in SM Megamall with a Special Director’s Talk. Lee, a Korean film director and screenwriter, was first noticed in 1999 for his short film ‘For the Peace of All Mankind’ and ‘Super Glue’ in 2001. Both films were invited to many festivals around the world such as Stockholm International Film Festival and Leeds International Film Festival.

Iloilo homegrown music group Muzikeros launched their music video The Best of Boracay at SM Southpoint in SM City Iloilo, recently. The afternoon was filled with local feel as the group entertained the crowd with their signature music which has a vibe of both folk and reggae music. The band’s vocalist Raffy Buenavides, is best known for his Hiligaynon hit song Inday. He also is a popular voice in some local business endorsements as well as local and national figures in politics.
