PLDT Home Accelerates AI and Connectivity Support for Women Entrepreneurs

PLDT Home marks Women’s Month with a renewed focus on accelerating AI adoption and strengthening digital infrastructure for Filipina entrepreneurs, recognizing their growing influence in the Philippines’ tech-enabled economy.

What began as small online businesses during the pandemic has transformed into fully digital enterprises powered by fiber connectivity, online marketplaces, automated workflows, and AI-driven content and analytics.

With recent Philippine Commission on Women data showing women owning 66 percent of SMEs in the Philippines and leading 62 percent of newly registered businesses, their role in shaping the digital economy has never been more significant.

“Women entrepreneurs today are operating at the forefront of digital transformation,” said Menardo “Butch” Jimenez, Jr., PLDT Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. “Our goal is to ensure they have the connectivity, tools and AI capabilities that allow them not only to keep up, but to lead. Building on the success of last year’s Gemini Academy in partnership with Google Philippines, PLDT Home and Google Philippines will relaunch the Gemini Academy for the MMPH community, which will introduce more advanced modules on workflow automation, data-driven decision-making, predictive insights, and responsible AI integration. The program reflects how quickly AI capabilities have progressed and aims to equip Filipina entrepreneurs with the technical confidence to embed AI across daily business operations.

GCash cautions against gambling apps used for phishing

A recent investigation by the National Privacy Commission (NPC) and the leading mobile wallet GCash, has led to the discovery of certain gambling sites and apps which were used for account takeovers in the recent surge of phishing scams.
