Globe, MAGELCO seal year partnership for faster fiber rollout, affordable electricity in Maguindanao
Globe has partnered with the Maguindanao Electric Cooperative (MAGELCO) to accelerate the rollout of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) technology and provide more affordable electricity in Mindanao. This is part of the company’s commitment to deliver a #1stWorldNetwork to Filipinos.
The partnership involves a joint pole agreement that allows Globe to leverage MAGELCO’s infrastructure in providing seamless internet connectivity through fiber technology in the province. MAGELCO will also assist Globe in its permanent power applications and in securing necessary permits.
In return, Globe extended P28.9 million in financial support to MAGELCO to establish a power substation to lower electricity costs and provide a stable power supply. Town residents within Maguindanao stand to benefit from this undertaking.
The partnership is a testament that organizations with a common goal of providing needed services can also achieve positive societal impact. Parties can leverage each other’s strengths and capabilities to address the needs of the communities.
The contract signing was attended by Globe Region head for Wireline Site Acquisition - Mindanao, Ryan Vincent Galan & Business Development for Mindanao - Christian Jay Guira. They were supported by Globe Sr. Legal Counsel for Infra Legal Services Jonathan Andrew Lim, Sr. & Lead for Joint Pole Agreement, VisMin - Ann Maribojoc. MAGELCO was represented by its General Manager Sultan Engineer Ashary Maongco, MBA, and Board President Saikuna Mamokhan.
“Globe goes beyond business to support the people in Maguindanao. This project will further enable connectivity and provide a more stable supply of power within the area. This partnership will definitely help improve the people’s lives and give them more opportunity to communicate globally and even showcase local products from Maguindanao,” said Christian Jay Guira, Head of Business Development for Mindanao.
General Manager Sultan Engineer Ashary Maongco also expressed his gratitude. “I could hardly find words to describe how grateful and excited I am about our new partnership which will equally benefit both of us and our respective clients. Globe played a huge role in this and I look forward to more fruitful business relationships with them, as we improve our services to the Bangsamoro people. Praying our business partnership will blossom and grow two or three-folds and even more than that in the years to come. Sukran[1].”
