Davao Global Township (DGT) will be the home of a new De La Salle University campus focused on professional development and is also expected to prime the growth of the 22-hectare business district. The establishment
YHEST is a joint venture between leading VisMin developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. and the Yuson, Huang and Tan families belonging to the Villa-Abrille clan of Davao City. YHEST has began ground works on Phase 1 of the P33 billion DGT which will also include two premier residential towers, a retail mall with a cineplex, and an expansive civic center.
Frederick Yuson, president of YHEST observed at the recent ceremonies marking the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding “that continuing education has become imperative for businesses today to thrive given the speed of developments in technology, business, engineering and other fields. Through the Villa-Abrille Center we hope to bring the latest knowledge and learnings to Dabawenyos.”
YHEST director and CLI chief operating officer Franco Soberano pointed out that the presence of the DLSU facility will make DGT a comprehensive township. “The availability of ongoing education has proven to be a critical element in many business districts not only in Manila but also in the other capitals of the world. The DLSU campus will inject a certain vitality to DGT.”
Rafael Cabredo, dean of DLSU’s College of Computer Studies, disclosed that modules on data science and information security taught by DLSU experts would be among the offerings of the Villa-Abrille Center. “The quickest way for employees and managers to bring themselves up to speed on industry breakthroughs would be through short courses.” He was joined at the ceremonies by Raymundo Suplido, DLSU president, and key personnel from the schools of engineering and business who would also offer programs for continuing education.
DGT, CLI’s first township development, will have a wide diversity of uses to make a complete and truly sustainable community, according to Soberano. RTKL, a global planning and design firm responsible for the revival of some downtown centers, assisted in conceptualizing the overall scheme for the 22-hectare business park.
DGT will be a dynamic live-work-play community that will also offer a central park close to a kilometer in length. It is located in the Matina district, the densest residential area of the Davao metropolis. Its offices spaces, retail mall, park, civic area and residential towers will thus be highly accessible to a vast number of Davao residents seeking new lifestyle experiences.
