Beyond the daily coverage of developing events, leading telecommunication company Globe Telecom wants to further encourage media excellence in civic, investigative and explanatory journalism that would delve into pressing societal concerns such as education, poverty, corruption, among others.
GLOBE Telecom recently launched in Iloilo City the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) 2015 to honor media people who are breaking new grounds in their field.
The award is open to all media persons working in print, broadcast and online; entries shall explore and advocate the following concerns: business and entrepreneurship, information and communication technology, environment and disaster response, governance and social progress and youth and education that will impact the society.
For ONLINE, categories are:
- Blogger of the Year
- Social Media Influencer of the Year.
For PRINT, categories are:
- Reporter of the Year for Print
- Investigative/Explanatory Story of the Year
- Columnist of the Year
- Photo Journalist of the Year.
For BRAODCAST, categories are:
- Reporter of the Year for Radio,
- Reporter of the Year for Television
- Investigative/Explanatory Story of the Year.
Stories, reports and blogposts that will be valid as entries will range from May 2014 to May 28, 2015 for the Visayas region.
GMEA 2015 will cover the media in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, General Santos and Zamboanga.
Deadline of submission of entries is on May 29, 2015.
Winners, and their editors, will receive cash prizes and plaque. Awarding will be on December in Cebu City.
