DOT-VI launches "Bring Home A Friend" Program

In time for the celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day, the Department of Tourism Region VI (DOT-VI) will launched the “Bring Home a Friend (BHAF)” Program  last November 24 at SM City Iloilo Cinema 6.  According to the 2015 report of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), there are 9.1 million OFWs. Meanwhile, Census of Population and Housing in 2010 accounted nearly 200,000 expatriates in the country. Based on DOT 2016 Visitors Sample Survey, word-of-mouth plays a very big role in motivating tourist to visit the Philippines with 51.80% of tourists came to the Philippines upon their friend’s recommendation while 14.10% have friends or relatives in the country. DOT’s BHAF Program primarily aims to encourage Filipinos both residing here and abroad to help promote Philippine tourism by inviting foreign friends to come and visit the Philippines.

Singtel Group announces six winning social impact start-ups of Asia Pacific Future Makers 2017

Six of the most promising social impact start-ups across Singapore, Australia and the Philippines emerged as the winners of social innovation programme, Singtel Group Asia Pacific Future Makers 2017. Singtel Group Future Makers 2017  Now in its second year, the Future Makers programme attracted over 250 applications from enterprising organisations and individuals which are making innovative use of technology to address community needs. Out of these, 19 teams were chosen for the local level and had the opportunity to work closely with experts from Singtel, Optus, Globe and the industry over a period of four months. They received intensive capacity building, mentoring and local grants of S$500,000 to help them grow their organisational capabilities and refine their business models. Six teams – Hapticus, iVolunteer, Learner Library, Sameview, Solve Education! and Virtualahan – were then selected for the regional finals.

Globe announces iVolunteer, Virtualahan as contingent in SingTel Group Regional Future Makers 2017

Globe Telecom has announced the two social innovation startups that will represent the Philippines in the upcoming SingTel Group Regional Future Makers 2017 competition in Australia. Cebu Landmasters grows Q3 profit by 105%, on track to surpass P1.2-B target for 2017

Property developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) is on track to surpass the P1.2-billion net income year-end target as it grew its third-quarter 2017 profit by 105% on the back of record real estate earnings. This was disclosed by CLI in its annual stockholders meeting held on November 6 at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel. ASTRA CENTER in Mandaue City by Cebu Landmasters Inc.   The listed developer, a major powerhouse in the Visayas-Mindanao (VisMin) region, reported its year-to- date net income after tax at P940 million, significantly exceeding previous year’s P459 million. The Cebu-based property company attributed this stellar income report to the 68% hike in real estate revenues in the past quarter to P2.736 billion from P1.625 billion a year ago.

Globe presents Solenn Heusaff’s new solo art exhibit “Kalsada”

Solenn Heussaff’s vision to turn street life into art comes to life as Globe brings “Kalsada”, Heussaff’s second solo exhibit, to art lovers in Bonifacio Global City.   “Kalsada” opened Friday, October 19, 2017 at the Provenance Gallery of Modern Art located in Shangri-La at the Fort.  Heussaff describes the exhibit as a collaboration between her and her three-year-old nephew, Kaeden. “The subjects are based on people I’ve seen on the streets, but even if their surroundings and expressions are quite sad, the paintings are still colorful. It was Kaeden who used so much color,” explained Heussaff.

SM City Iloilo will hold its monthly Trash to Cash Recycling Market this coming November 3 and 4, 2017 at the car park area.  Consistent in its advocacy for a greener environment, this activity engages the community to take part by bringing their recyclable items and sell it to scrap buyers—a way initiated to encourage involvement of different sectors in curbing solid waste management problems. Waste items like old car batteries, papers, old computers, and other items that can still be recycled are accepted by buyers. Megaworld turns-over 1,000 condo units in Makati worth PhP 9B

Property giant Megaworld is turning over 1,000 residential units in Makati Central Business District (CBD) this year, with a total sales value of P9-billion.  These projects include the 30-storey Paseo Heights and the 50-storey Three Central, both in Salcedo Village in Makati CBD. “We have started the turnover process middle of this year and our goal is to complete this at the soonest possible time,” says Eugene Em Lozano, first vice president for sales and marketing, Megaworld Makati CBD. Three Central in Makati Last year, the company has also turned over 800 residential units in Makati CBD from its Two Central and Greenbelt Hamilton Tower 1 projects.
